HEREDITARY DIFFUSE GASTRIC CANCER

     Hereditary Diffused Gastric Cancer or HDGC is believed to been around since the time of Napoleon Bonaparte.

The CDH1 gene was first found to be a hereditary risk factor for gastric cancer in 1998.

“The average age for someone with HDGC to be diagnosed with gastric cancer is 38; Women with HDGC also have an increased risk of lobular breast cancer.” – cancer.net

“HDGC is a genetic condition.This means that the cancer risk and other features of HDGC can be passed from generation to generation in a family.”  
  
The gene associated with HDGC is CDH1. A mutation alternation; HDGC is becoming more common in younger patients.

E-cadherin protein (CDH-1) gene the risk of developing gastric cancer in a patient with CDH-1 gene is estimated at 67% for men and 83% for women before the age of 80.
